How to play
Klondike is the world's most played form of solitaire. Twenty-eight cards are dealt into seven columns where only the bottom card of each column starts face up. Your task is to move all fifty-two cards up onto the four foundations, one for each suit, building them in order from ace all the way up to king. The rest of the deck waits in the stock, and you turn cards over to the waste pile one at a time.
In the columns you build downwards in alternating colours – a red seven can go on a black eight, and so on. You may move a single card or a whole sequence at once. When you empty a column you may only start it again with a king. Every time you free a face-down card it turns over automatically, giving you new options. Click a card to pick it up and click the pile you want to move it to; a double-click sends a card straight to its foundation.
The game keeps track of both your moves and your time, and your best result is saved locally in your browser so you can try to beat it. Not every deal can be solved, but most can with a little planning – open the columns with the most hidden cards first, and don't be too quick to send everything up to the foundations, as low cards are often useful in the columns.
