The puzzles are in Swedish – a fun way to practise Swedish vocabulary.

How to play

Each puzzle consists of 16 Swedish words that are to be split into four groups of four. Tap four words you think belong together and press Submit. If the group is right, the words merge into a coloured bar showing the name of the category. If it is wrong, you lose one of your four lives. When three of your four words are right, the game tells you that you are only one word away. Shuffle rearranges the words, which often helps you spot new connections, and Deselect clears your selection.

The groups have different levels of difficulty, shown by colour: yellow is the easiest, then green and blue, and purple is the hardest. Purple groups are often built on wordplay, for example words that can come before the same word (FOT, SNÖ and GOLF before -BOLL), words hidden inside other words, or words that become new words when read backwards. Watch out for red herrings: many words seem to fit two groups, but in the solution every word belongs to exactly one group. It usually pays to start with the group you are surest about.

The daily puzzle is the same for everyone and changes at midnight Swedish time. You can play it once, but your progress is saved, so you can continue if you reload the page. When you are done you can share your result as coloured squares without revealing the words. Practice gives you random puzzles from the same collection, as many as you like. Statistics and your streak are stored locally in your browser. The categories cover Swedish food, nature, geography, sport, Astrid Lindgren and much more, so the game is also a good way to learn Swedish words and culture.
