How to play
Mattespelet is an arithmetic game for children in primary school. First choose a level: Grade 1 practises plus and minus with numbers up to 20, Grade 2–3 counts up to 100 and practises the times tables up to 5, and Grade 4–6 mixes all four operations with multiplication up to 12 and division that always comes out even. You can also choose to practise just one operation, for example only multiplication before a times-table test.
Each round consists of ten problems. Type the answer in the box and press Enter or the "Answer" button. A correct answer earns a star and a green flash – after a wrong answer the correct one is shown so you learn for next time. The clock keeps ticking through the whole round, so you need to be both fast and accurate.
When the round is over, the result is converted into stars: ten correct gives three stars, eight or nine correct gives two, and six or seven correct gives one star. The best result per level is stored locally in the browser, so kids can compete against themselves and see their mental arithmetic getting faster every day. A few rounds a day makes a big difference!
