Opposites and rhymes – word game for kids

Learn Swedish words by matching opposites and finding words that rhyme. Two fun games in one – tap the right word and collect stars! The words stay in Swedish, because that is exactly what you are practising.

How to play

Opposites and rhymes is a simple word game in two parts. In the Opposites mode a Swedish word is shown and you tap the word that means the reverse – for example stor (big) and liten (small), or varm (warm) and kall (cold). In the Rhymes mode you instead look for the word that rhymes, such as katt and hatt or sol and stol. Each round has ten questions.

The game is made for children in preschool and early school years and for anyone learning Swedish. Training opposites builds vocabulary, while listening for rhymes trains the sounds of the language and early reading. A round is quick to play, and you collect a star rating for how many answers you get right.

Your best result is saved locally in your browser for each mode, so you can compete against yourself again and again. Everything is free, works right away on a phone or tablet with big buttons, and no account is needed. Read the words out loud together – it makes the game even more fun!
