Word Chain – build a chain of words
You get a starting word – then type Swedish words where each one begins with the letter the previous word ended on. Build as long a chain as you can before time runs out! Note: all words are in Swedish, which makes it a fun language exercise.
How to play
Word Chain is a shiritori-style word game: you are given a starting word and must type a new Swedish word that begins with the letter the previous word ended on. The word has to be in the game's word list and must not already have been used in the chain. Every accepted word extends the chain and gives you points based on its length – the longer the word, the more points.
You are playing against the clock. Each word you add gives you a few extra seconds, but when the time runs out the game is over. If you cannot think of a word starting with the right letter you can use Tip, which reveals one possible word – but it costs you both points and time. Your longest chain is saved as a record locally in your browser.
The trick is to think ahead: words ending in common letters such as a, e, n and r are easy to build on, while words ending in, for example, x can quickly bring the chain to a halt. Word Chain trains both vocabulary and quick thinking and works just as well for children practising spelling as for adults who want to keep their minds sharp.
