Trace letters – practise writing A–Ö and 0–9
Children trace large print letters with a finger or the mouse. Numbers and arrows show where each stroke starts and which way it goes, and the game checks how well the dotted letter is covered. Capital letters, small letters and the digits 0–9.
Note: the game uses the Swedish alphabet, which ends with Å, Ä and Ö.
How to play
Choose capital letters, small letters or digits, and pick a character in the row of buttons. The character is drawn large with a dotted line. Each stroke has an orange circle with a number that shows where to start and in which order, and a small arrow shows the direction. Trace the dotted lines with a finger or the mouse and press Done. Show me animates the strokes in the right order, and Clear wipes the drawing.
The game picks a number of points along the dotted guide and checks how many of them your line passes close to. Lines drawn far away from the letter lower the result. If about three quarters of the letter is covered you get a star and can move on; careful tracing gives up to three stars. Small letters are drawn between guide lines like in a school exercise book, so that letters such as g, j, p, q and y go below the baseline.
The letters are simple print letters, the kind children start writing with in Swedish schools before joined-up writing. Most strokes start at the top and go downwards, and round letters such as o, c and a are drawn anticlockwise from the top right. The stars for every character are saved in your browser, so you can see which letters are done and which are left to practise.
