How to play

Spider is played with two decks – 104 cards – dealt into ten columns, and it is one of the most popular patiences of all because it rewards planning over luck. Your goal is to build eight complete runs from king down to ace. Whenever a run of the same suit lies in perfect order at the bottom of a column, it is lifted off the board automatically, and the game is won when all eight are gone.

In the columns you build downwards regardless of suit – any card fits on one that is a single rank higher. But you may only pick up and move several cards at once if they already form an unbroken same-suit run. When a column is emptied you may place any card there. Cards left face down turn over on their own as soon as they are exposed. When you get stuck you deal a new row: click the deal button to lay one fresh card on every column – but only when no column stands empty.

Start on the easy level with a single suit to learn the flow, then step up to two suits for a real challenge. The game counts your moves and your time, and your best result per level is saved locally in your browser. A good habit is to open the longest columns first and to keep an empty column in reserve, since it gives you room to untangle awkward sequences.
