More or fewer? – guess which businesses Sweden has most of
Are there more hairdressers or restaurants in Malmö? More electricians in Umeå or in Luleå? Two cards, one question: which has the most registered companies? The figures come from the Swedish business register, so the game is about Swedish municipalities and Swedish industry names – translated here for you.
Source: Företagsregistret (SCB) via Metodai Företag. The figures are the number of registered companies in each industry – not the number of employees.
How to play
Two cards are shown side by side. Each card is an industry in a place: for example restaurants in Malmö, hairdressers and barbers in Malmö, electricians in two different municipalities, or an industry counted for the whole of Sweden. Tap the card you think has the most registered companies. Both figures are then revealed. In Higher or lower the winning card stays and a new challenger appears – one wrong answer ends the streak. In 10 questions you get ten separate duels and a score out of ten.
The numbers come from Företagsregistret, the business register kept by Statistics Sweden (SCB), and are presented through Metodai Företag. They count how many companies are registered with a given industry code in a municipality. That is not the same as the number of employees or shops: a single large company with many staff counts once, while many sole traders count one each. The game only uses pairs where both figures are at least 3 and differ by at least 10 percent, so there are never ties.
The game covers 30 common industries – from restaurants, accountants and programmers to dairy farms, gyms and religious communities – across Sweden's municipalities. Your best streak and your best 10-question score are saved locally in your browser. The municipality and industry names come from Swedish data; the industry names are translated on this page.
